Mental Health Support and Wellbeing for Parents/Carers
Take a break from your routine and benefit from Sarah's holistic approach as an OT and counsellor at the farm. This one is for you and not the kids. There are outdoor opportunities for mindfulness for every type of person, and Sarah helps you with animal connections (horses, donkeys, and other farm animals) and nature in this very special program designed to increase knowledge and skills for parents and carers. Or simply, to support you to improve your coping strategies with kids/young adults around food, transitions, tech use and other daily conflicts, or the back to school/work routine.
Sarah is an experienced OT who has neurodivergent kids, one also with down syndrome, and has herself been diagnosed with autism/ADHD/C-PTSD. So it's safe to say, she gets it! Work in a small group for effective outcomes as you focus on increasing your wellbeing as a parent/carer with a specific aim of being more regulated to help those you care for reach their goals. Preventing carer burnout and learning helpful strategies to understand emotional and sensory regulation, neurodiversity and living with trauma will help you understand tools needed for your own self-care routines and healthier relationships. This in turn helps others in the family reach their goals and generally creates a more harmonious environment for everyone.
Professionals and self care gurus are always saying you must 'fill your own cup first', and yet nobody tells you how. This workshop addresses this specifically and is aimed at helping parents and carers to build confidence, identity and self-care routines so they can then support others in the family to achieve their goals.
This OT workshop aims to provide education and guidance for those of us supporting people with their own learning or childhood goals. Learn to:
-Understand your family relationships & dynamics
-Understand emotional/sensory stress and regulation
-Work on your communication style to reduce family conflict
-Manage situations more successfully at home
-Access mindfulness & meditation 'everyday' techniques
-Reduce patterns of anxiety, depression and isolation
