About our Program

Our Health and Wellness Coach Training Program is our entry level course for people interested in working with people with chronic pain as a coach.

The PCA Health and Wellness Coach Training Program is accredited by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coaching exam. We have a very high pass rate with students from our program sitting for the NBHWC board exam.

Why study with us?

Our training course for health and wellness coaching includes an emphasis on helping people with chronic pain. You will learn motivational interviewing (MI) skills from experienced chronic pain coaches that bring current real-world experience to the classroom. Motivational Interviewing is a conversational technique that is especially effective for behavior change. This technique serves people who want to change habits, whether they are related to pain or other health related behaviors.

Each class is purposely kept small to facilitate engagement through group discussion and interaction. This is an online course designed to prepare students for the National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) exam.

Upon completion of our health and wellness coach training course, you will receive a certificate confirming you are a Certified Health and Wellness Coach (CHWC) for successfully completing the PCA course requirements, which includes training in health and wellness coaching skills, chronic pain coaching, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). You will receive your health and wellness coach certificate once all course requirements are met.

We recommend you also become board certified with NBHWC. This gives you a professional distinction showing your commitment to health coaching at the top level of your profession. The requirements to sit for the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) exam can be found here.

Our program provides you with comprehensive health and wellness tools and resources, coaching skills with an emphasis on pain management through education, practice, and mentoring during a 17-week online course using the Zoom platform.

PCA faculty includes experienced health and wellness coaches, who specialize in coaching for pain management. Education combines health coaching skills and best practices with specific attention to working with pain clients. To complete the course, students must pass a comprehensive exam and a practicum of recorded calls. Once all course requirements are met, you will be awarded a certificate of completion and be a certified health and wellness coach (CHWC). This is also known as a health coach certification, wellness coach certification, or health and wellness coach certification.

Our coach training program provides trainees with comprehensive health and wellness tools, with an emphasis in pain-management coaching skills through education, practice and mentoring during a 17 week course. PCA'c faculty includes experienced coaches, many who specialize in pain management and motivational interviewing. Education combines general coaching skills and best practices with specific attention to working with pain clients. To complete the course, trainees must pass a comprehensive exam and a practicum of recorded calls.

The Requirements

  1. As an adult learner, each participant is responsible for completion of requirements by the of the course, if certification is desired. Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion, which is a necessary requirement to sit for the NBC-HWC exam.

  1. A dependable phone and Internet connection, plus moderate computer skills (an email address, internet or data plan with sufficient speed to view videos, basic typing skills, access to long-distance calling).

  1. Passing score of at least 80% on final multiple-choice comprehensive exam.

  1. Completion of required reading, reading exams and homework.

  1. Attending and logging a record of all classes.

  1. Submitting three and passing a minimum of one recorded practice coaching session, each a minimum of 20 minutes in duration. Following each recorded practice coaching session, the student will receive a minimum of 20 minutes mentorin2 Columng feedback to discuss what went well and where there may be room for improvement.

  • $4,900.00- if paid in full, prior to the program start date.

PLAN B

  • Four monthly payments of $1,275.00 (first payment due prior to the course starting)

PLAN C

  • 12-month financing available ($900 down prior to the course starting/$395.00 x 11 payments)

PLEASE NOTE:

  • $100 Discount if payment is received in full 30 days prior to the class start date!

  • Occasionally, events arise that compel students to withdraw from training. After a $500 non-refundable fee, a prorated refund schedule is available.

  • Graduation certificate released upon successful completion and full payment.

Other details:

  • You have one year from the completion of the Health and Wellness Coach training course to begin the Advanced Pain Coach training course. After that time an additional fee of $500 will be charged.

  • If you withdraw from our program after completing the Health and Wellness training course a refund of $1,190.00 will be issued.
