The next subject of our grow-it-yourself fascination is a pantry staple – tea, balm for the soul. It may not have quite a fashionable air about it as coffee does, but for many of us it is a daily essential and it’s the second-most consumed beverage worldwide, after water.
Quince can be grown throughout NZ and grow happily in both warm-temperate and temperate climes. Its chilling requirements are less than that of apples or pears.
I think pears sometimes get a bad rap, when compared with apples – but pears are just as productive and useful, warranting a place in the home garden.
